The first chapter of pretty much covers the author’s own journey in figuring out that “we cannot be spiritually mature while we are still emotionally immature”. (Please bear with me as this is a Christian book so some terms I use may not be most comfortable with you.) Peter, the author and a pastor, shares how deceitful himself was to preach the good news on Sundays and curse out in his car on Mondays. He and his wife kept on trying to figure out what was missing, and both insisted to spend more time on “actions” such as Bible studies,community fellowship, prayer meetings and worship services, which they believed would sanctify them and fill the void.
